APC Silcon Delta Conversion On-Line Innovations

Output Stability: Silcon is a true On-Line UPS with +or –1% voltage regulation.

Save on electrical costs and air conditioning: Silcom cuts wasted power usage and reduces room temperature. The net effect is less utility power is needed to power your loads.

Compared to best performance competitor, Silcon has 2% advantage. This works out to 2% of 100Kva x 24 hours/day x 365 days/tr x 5 years x 6 cents per Kwatt/hr = $5256 of energy not wasted over 5 years. Add 33% more savings to this since less air-conditioning is required. Total saving = $6990.

Reduced Input Current Harmonics: Input harmonics are controlled with an active power factor correction circuit. The input power factor is rated to unity. Input current and voltage are in phase. Mains voltage and current have minimal distortion. Silcon Input Current THD is less that 5% and do not use 12 pulse rectifiers and additional filter banks. This feature reduces problems such as overhead supply transformers, and the cost of replacing large power capacitors within the UPS module.

Reduced Generator Sizing Required

Superior Output Overload: Having a strong Overload Rating is important to users because, this is a figure of merit that indicates the instantaneous start-up power available for heavy loads while staying on UPS power.

Silcon UPS can accomplish 200% overload for one minute without going to bypass.

Many UPS can barely provide 150% overload for 30 seconds without going to bypass mode.

Remote Management of the UPS: In today’s world of remote asset management and service diagnostics, the ability to monitor and maintain power availability over the network is essential.

The Silcon UPS can be managed and or monitored by many or few, via Web Management card that is included with the solution.

Software for graceful Shutdown of Operating Systems: APC’s Powerchute shutdown software is the industry’s most popular graceful shutdown software. Should the UPS administrator choose to use the APC’s automated computer shutdown software, most Operating Systems are interfaced over the existing Ethernet network with no additional hard-wired connections. Each server can be set to have different shutdown reaction times in order to optimize shutdown timing.

Fully Rated Output Inverter

Parallel UPS for Redundancy or Capacity: Silcon UPS products can be added in parallel for capacity and/or hot redundancy. With Silcon you can place up to nine UPS in parallel. Parallel UPS’ share the load equally. Should one UPS fail, the others take over without switching to backup UPS systems. This ability is available throughout the whole Silcon product line.

Secure, External Wrap-Around Bypass Option: Wrap-Around Bypass operation is interlocked to the UPS, with remote status indication available via the computer network.

Excellent Frequency Tolerance: Silcon has excellent frequency tolerance (55-65hz) without loss of bypass synchronization.

ISO 14001 Compliant – Environmentally Friendly

Experience: APC has 3-phase experience; its Silcon division has over 25 years of field experience. Of the current Delta Conversion Topology, there are over 5000 UPS installed in Europe and over 700 in North America. The Silcon products are currently the fastest growing, most in demand, 3 phase products in the world.

Service: US Tech and APC have a global network of factory trained Field Service Engineers to ensure highest systems availability. Many service levels are available.
